Network Connections Folder was unable to retrieve the list of Network adapters

August 31, 2010 in PC problems by Johng

MY PC does it to me again!
I can not say which one actually fixed it but go to controlpanel, performance and Maintenance, administrative tools, services and turn on all services and set to automatic that have anything to do with networking functions. Some how these services were turned off. I hate windows..blows!!everyday something is wrong and takes me hours to fix it. I tried all the net.dll stuff after I turned on those services then reboot and that fixed it. I just made an assumption that this was connected to a service that was disabled and not allowed to start with windows.I think i will stop installing stuff on my production machine and go with a virtual install for installing third party software. I think this happen due to trying to get bluetooth drivers installed.if i were on the mac I wouldn’t have to deal with this crap when will I learn!!!

Mac vs Pc

August 26, 2010 in PC's vs Mac by Johng

Okay, and I say this with a bit of frustration…I am a avid computer user okay..and of course so,” I am 411techhelp.com”!! However, I can not say enough about this debate but I never hear the real about this. I have been dying to write about this and to hear your feedback. Oh, and I will start a poll on this and post the link later but let me say this for the record ” I hate PC’s and if you can visualize this…I am standing on the roof of my house with a sign and yelling from the top of my lungs for 8 hours and now I am horse. “I hate Microsoft products and their O.S, if you can call it that!!. I got some kind of error this morning with outlook 2007. So, I shut it down and now it won’t open back up. So, I restart the pc and it still wont open. So, now I must spend my morning instead of working out which I badly need, trying to fix it. Not to mention, I have restarted this machine almost everyday because when I leave it on after days it gets really to slow. Now let me tell you what I am running. Specs are: a Supermicro dual Xeon 3.2 processors with 6GB ram which xp doesn’t recognize, a 256 MB pcie radeon card, 6- Sata 1000 GB Hard drives with no issues on low hard drive space and many other bells and whistles but you get the picture and how in the world does it run low. I can go through and spend the weekend tweaking the system to run better but why? I have spent have my life fixing this sh…oh wait let my calm down… Okay, but why? I have a mac! and I smile..some how my stress was lifted all of the sudden. Anyway, It is a mackbook not a pro one i might add, that has been on for maybe a month. I close it. Go run a service call, open it when I get there. Close it again until I need it again and never turn it off.  It’s a dual core 2.4 or 6, 4 GB RAM that it recognizes, a 300 gig hard drive 7200 RPM that was upgraded from 5400 RPM with leopard 10.6 I think but you get the picture. Now laptops to my opinion don’t run faster that desktops or that use to be the case!!! But since dual core, quad core that has changed. When I open the top on the mac it is ready to do what ever in about 3 to 6 seconds, on the net logging in and downloading new emails. Now I am a multi- tasker so I always have to leave what I’m working on and having to visit it another day or next week, So i have three browsers open with maybe 10 to 20 tabs open. Oh, Oh,Oh let me say this I am also running windows 7 an XP in the back ground on the MAC along with other programs and it will still not slow down. So i hate to say this, but if you want to get things done and put me out of business go buy a MAC, please I beg of you…but all jokes aside if you want to spend more time with the family, mac you boss happy sneak behind there back asd cough up the money and buy a mac…don’t worry about the house note…you will endup making more money that you can count because you are working on a MAC and getting more work done. After all, there is no way I would have time to write this long post if there was no MAC in mylife….wow this sounds like me talking about my wife..sorry hunny!! But, I have also made the decision to replace my desktop with a MAC G5 and only use the PC for video editing… SOMETIMES!!!! There are some programs that I just have to use on PC but I only say this cause I have no MAC desktop yet but that will change today!!

So, tell me your thoughts or share your experience.

P.S. I wrote this because of a question I received from a middle school friend on Facebook from a post I wrote about Pc vs Mac. Hello Vincina!
